ORDERING INFORMATION & POLICIES

PatchWorks can accept purchase orders for Institutional and School DVD orders only, all others must be paid by credit cards or checks. Shipping fees are additional. Sales tax of 9.5% will be added to California orders only.

Purchases

DVDs are leased for the life of the dvd. Once purchased, leased dvds are licensed for direct projection only by the acquiring institution, educational organization or independent professional.

Why the different versions?

You might not know it, but when you buy a DVD, you are only buying the right to use that DVD in a specific way. Just because you have bought a DVD, it doesn’t mean you have the legal permission, for example, to show it in a movie theater and charge admission. Is this fair? We think it is. Making films is very expensive and we rely on sales to recover the enormous costs of making each of our films. If you are just one person, it isn’t fair to ask you to pay a large amount, so we keep the Home use price low. On the other hand, if you are a large institution, it is likely that many more people will view the DVD over its lifespan, and the higher price reflects that. Educational/Institutional buyers have 10 days to review the film if you mention ‘order on approval’
when you place your order.

Telecasts & Public Performances

Non-home DVD versions include public performance rights (PPR) when admission is not charged. Contact us for information about broadcast/cablecast licensing and public performance rights when admission will be charged distribution@patchworksfilms.net.
